Bedford Academy for the Arts

COMING SOON.....

MUSIC LAB!

The music lab will be available to all public and private music teachers in the area as well as current and future students of music (guitar, piano, etc.) to study music theory, composition, and home piano/keyboarding skills.

What will Music Lab offer?

Teacher Training and Recertification
Through a cooperative agreement with Central Virginia Community College, teachers from public and private schools can receive recertification credits by taking courses in the music lab, developing skills in computer programs such as Sibelius, Sonar, Band in A Box, Musition, Groovy Music, Finale and the Class Piano Lab keyboarding system.
Resource for Music Teacher
Trained teachers will be able to use the music lab upon completion of basic training in the computer programs and the class piano lab keyboard system. Teachers will be able to create music worksheets, songs, instrumental pieces, exercises, and other resources for students at all levels.
Music Theory Courses
Musition offers a complete music training and testing system for the student or teacher.
Resource for Music Students
Any student of music, whether through Bedford Academy of the Arts or local school system (including home-schooled) will have access to the music lab. Students will be able to use Finale or Band in a Box, for example, to compose, edit, find accompaniments, arrange and print their own music.
Class Piano Lab
Teachers can use the lab to teach a group of students, while focusing on individual students through an audio mixer. Students are able to hear their own playing through headphones; however, not hear the other students play. The teacher is able to patch in and hear the students play as well.
Assessment Tool of Student Skills and Interests
Parents may use the piano lab as a means to assess their child's interest and abilities as a trial period before making an investment in a home piano.
